Illinois Swimming held a zoom meeting with all club leaders earlier this week to discuss the current state of pool openings and wanted to share that with everyone - click here. It's about a 30 minute session, but the first 15-20 covers the major content on where things are at. Basically it states that the governor's phase 3 plan does not allow for pools to open. Illinois Swimming has hired a lobbyist to work on trying to amend that language for lap swimming / practice or get some lanauge in for phase 4.
Please remember that when Illinois gives the all clear for pools we will still have to work with our facilities on when they are ready to open up. We have communicated our reopen plans to our facilities and will continue to communicate with them on safe ways to do that.
Click here for a much shorter announcement from Illinois Swimming leadership that was released yesterday.
Earlier this week Illinois Swimming announced the cancellation of the championship meets for the long course season - click here. Coach Kyle talked with the athletes about this yesterday and I will forward on his talk shortly. Obviously this is not the news we want to hear, but hopefully takes some pressures off the athletes. As we received updates we will continue to pass them on.
