Minnetonka overcomes Wayzata in dual

On Tuesday, January 26 Minnetonka hosted Wayzata in a conference dual meet. While the Trojans started strong, the Skippers quickly overturned their lead, winning 103 to 78.

Minnetonka scored in second and third place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Ryan McGuirk, Carson Witte, Henry Rosenhagen, and Ben Binder were second swimming 1:39.83, while Jacob Guggisberg, Cole Mizutani, Jayanth Kurup and Xander Hawks were third in 1:45.09. The “C” relay of Carter Lawin, Sean Studenski, William Poey and Gus Johanson were fifth with a time of 1:47.06, while the “D” relay of Nolan Trinh, Ryan Diede, Graham Muench and Evan Witte finished in exhibition, in 1:46.31.

Knute Wargin won the 200 Yard Freestyle in a time of 1:49.42. Andrew Mallea was third swimming 1:53.16. Max Louie fourth in 1:56.40, and Leo Rosenhagen swam 1:56.48 in exhibition.

McGuirk touched the wall first in the 200 Yard IM, winning with a time of 2:02.86. Henry Rosenhagen was second swimming 2:03.13, and Guggisberg third swimming 2:07.23. Luke Edwards time of 2:10.99 was swum in exhibition.

Carson Witte and Ben Keller placed second and third in the 50 Yard Freestyle, swimming 22.67 and 22.89. Diede was fifth swimming 23.37, and Evan Witte swam 23.89 in exhibition.

Oliver Poitevent won the 6-dive event with 237.65 points. Andrew Bussmann placed fourth with 213.45 points, and Trey Maroney fifth with 181.00 points.

Carson Witte out-touched Wayzata swimming Ilya Johnson to win the 100 Yard Butterfly in 53:16. Henry Rosenhagen was third swimming 53.66. Poey swam 57.81 in exhibition.

Minnetonka swept the 100 Yard Freestyle, led by Binder, who won in 49.69. McGuirk was second swimming 50.64, and Hawks’ time of 51.25 good for third place. Johanson swam 53.66 in exhibition.

The Skippers were 1-3 in the 500 Yard Freestyle as well. Guggisberg won swimming 5:07.24, with Keller second swimming 5:19.04 and Mallea third swimming 5:23.18. Isaac McFall finished in exhibition with a time of 5:34.83.

Carson Witte, Hawks, Wargin and Keller combined for 1:31.59 to win the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Kurup, Muench, Mallea and Evan Witte were third swimming 1:33.99. Henry Rosenhagen, Louis, Johanson, and Poey swam 1:37.17 for fourth place, while Noah Fu, Myonghai Choi, JJ Ose and McFall swam 1:40.37 in exhibition.

Binder scored his second individual win in thee 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 55.12. Edwards placed third swimming 58.68, and Lawin fourth swimming 59.55. Tring’s time of 1:01.32 was swum in exhibition.

Minnetonka swam the 100 Yard Breaststroke in exhibition. Wargin had the second fastest time of 1:01.13, followed by Mizutani swimming 1:04.48. Died swam 1:07.24, and Studenski finished in 1:08.06.

The Skippers finished the evening with the 400 Free Relay team of Binder, McGuirk, Keller and Wargin first to the wall in 3:22.15. Guggisberg, Hawks, Mallea and Diede swam 2:20.74, while Leo Rosenhagen, Edwards, Muench, and Mizutani swam 3:34.24 and Louie, Choi, Fu and Studenski finished in 3:37.18.

Minnetonka faces Buffalo at Buffalo on Friday, January 29.
