Dear Y Hub Fins Families,
We pray that you are taking advantage of this beautiful weather, and that your children are enjoying their time off from school and the pool. As we eagerly anticipate the beginning of long course season and our return to practice on Monday, March 22, there are a few events involving our Y membership as a whole that we would like to share with you.
Our team operates on the principles, “Community, Technique, Excellence.” While we do our best to instill solid technique and excellence with all of our swimmers over the past several months, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been limited in opportunities to provide the “community” aspect for our swimmers. Until now...
Monday, March 22, from 11 AM-3PM, one of our Hattiesburg Senior Group Swimmers, Sam Line, has organized a blood drive at the Hattiesburg Y. Some of you may remember the blood drive that Sam organized back in November, and for those of you who showed up to donate, thank you. There is a critical blood shortage in our state, and this is an opportunity for our Y HubFins families, 16 years of age and older, to give back to our community. If you are interested in donating, please contact the Y Front Desk, 601-583-4000, or Sam Line 601-325-8189, to sign up for a time slot.
Saturday, April 10, from 7AM-12PM, we have been asked by our Director, Matt Rumph, to provide swimmers and their families to serve on a one mile stretch of blacktop for the Hattiesburg Half Marathon to represent our organization, raise awareness for the Y, and hand out water to the runners who participate. The early shift will include sidewalk chalk time! While this is not a required event, it promises to be a wonderful time of fellowship, community involvement, and team unity. There are several time options to serve: 7AM-9:30AM, 9:30AM-12PM, 7AM-12PM Click here for the link to sign up for a time slot.
*Highschool aged swimmers will be awarded community service hours
for their time, and we will not have Senior Group practice that
