Record Breaking Senior Champs for The Cyclones!
Our Senior Champs Team had a great championship meet breaking 18 Cyclones All Time Records and had 56 lifetime best times. Many of our Cyclone records were previously set by college swimming standouts, Isabella Garofalo and Nick Loomis, as well as Olympic swimmer, Vien Nguyen. Our 2021 Senior Champs Team had 16 individual qualifiers which was enough to have two girl relay teams and one boy relay team. This Cyclones Team made a huge jump from previous years’ results. The St. Augustine Swim Team placed 17th in the 2021 combined results over 50 teams.
The Cyclone girls reached 12th place with their 2 relay teams and thirteen individual swims placing 14th place or better. Haven Hinkle and Riley McCabe lead the group with earning over 40 points each. Haven placed 5th in the 1650 Free, 6th in 1000 Free, 8th in 200 Fly, and 9th in 500 Free going just below her Futures Championship cut time. Riley had personal best times all her events and added a new Futures Championship cut in 100 Free in addition with her previous 50 Free Futures cut. She placed 5th in 50 Free and 9th in 50 Back and 50 Fly. Grace Weed joined Haven and Riley earning a Futures Championship qualifying time in 100 Breast. She had a remarkable meet placing 6th in 100 Breast, 8th in 50 Breast, and 10th in 200 Breast. All our Cyclone girls found new spots on the Cyclones Top 10 of All Time Records during the meet plus enjoyed the competition and camaraderie. Congratulations Ella Chang, Olivia Copland, Haven Hinkle, Allie Larrimore, Reilly McCabe, Keara McGee, Emma Mudgett, Jasmyn Newsom, Jaimie Ray, and Grace Weed!
Our Cyclone boys also stood out in their relay results as well as individually. The boys dropped time in three out of their five relay races and the 400 Free Relay placed 13th with Carson Weed, Joseph Wyatt, Thomas Zak, and Jakob Brougham. The boys had six individual swims placing 14th or better. Joseph Wyatt led with earning 34 points with his butterfly events, placing 4th place in 50 Fly, 5th in 200 Fly, and 11th place finish in 100 Fly. Jakob Brougham hit his Futures cut time in the 500 Free placing 13th and placed in the top 12 with 1000 Free and 1650 Free. These boys had lots of exciting races and numerous personal best times. Like the girls, everyone on this team earned multiple spots on the Cyclones Top Ten of All Time List. Congratulations Parker Anderson, Jakob Brougham, Robert Grace, Carson Weed, and Joseph Wyatt and Thomas Zak!
