Swim Team Update--Week of July 4th!

Wow!  What a weekend!  Thank you all for your willingness to join in the fun and  whackiness  of Saturday’s Fun Meet!  Having parents willing to jump in (literally and figuratively!) makes the event even more fun for our swimmers!  Way to go!!  Special thanks to Chris Bowers for his help in making our unicorns come alive and delivering them to their corral Saturday morning.   And,  huge kudos and thanks to Jon Griner for his hosting skills on Saturday!  It really made the day special!

As we take this Monday  off  I wanted to remind you of our practice schedule for Tuesday-Friday:

7:15---7-10 year  olds

Friday will be our 2 nd  Guppy Meet 8:00-8:30ish.   We ask that the 7-10 year  olds  who  are able to  stay come cheer them on, and our 11 and  olders  help with timing.  We are looking for someone to be our photographer for that day as well.  Let me know if you  are able to  capture these moments!

Rock Painting, Friday, July 9, 7:30-10:30 a.m.   Swimmers can come either before practice or after to paint a rock for the hunt and one to take home. Once the rocks are found they can exchange it for a piece of candy!  Our volunteers have thought of everything—including smocks to protect swimmers’ clothing/suits.  Thank  you Tara , Laura and Aily for making this happen!

Chalk Art, Friday, July 9, 4:30-5:00 p.m.  Come help us decorate our sidewalks with Flying Fish cheer as well as welcome the Lionfish to the meet!  Open to any Flying Fish family member!

Meet Set Up Help, Friday, July 9, 7:45 p.m.-8:30 p.m.--Mark your calendars and come on down!  The more hands helping with set up, the quicker it goes!

Pizza by the Pool & Movie Night, Thursday, July 15, 5:00 p.m-10:00 p.m.   We wanted to host a movie night last year but due to COVID we  weren’t able to —but this is a different summer!  The swim team is partnering with the Social Committee and adding in a neighborhood favorite, Pizza by the Pool! Pizza and a drink will be hosted by the Social Committee.  We are opening this event up to the whole neighborhood as a thank you for their support of the swim team.  The swim team is covering the additional lifeguard expense—which we would need to cover if we were keeping this a private event for just the swim team.

Away Swim Meet vs Greenbrier Country Club, Saturday, July 24 th .   If you know you  aren’t able to  attend, please sign out now!  If you know you  are able to  attend, please sign up for a volunteer position!  Thank you!

End of Year Party, Sunday, July 25, 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.  We will have food, open swim, awards and our favorite swim video produced by Aimee Curley!  Please RSVP under events so we can get a good number for ordering food.  Thank you!

Divisionals  Meet at Cheshire, Saturday, August  7   Don’t  assume your swimmer won’t be asked to participate in this meet!  Everyone’s progress is great!  A swimmer needs to swim at three (3) meets to be eligible to swim in  Divisionals .  Our Virtual Meet counts as two meets so you just need to swim in one additional meet to meet the requirement.  If you know you will be out of town/unavailable, please sign out now.  Thank you!!

We are halfway through our swim season—and I hope you all are having as much fun as I am!  If you have any  questions  please reach out!  Talk with you soon!
