This past weekend we had sixteen of our Senior Group swimmers compete at the Florida Swimming Senior Championship in Sarasota, FL. CAT again excelled from start to finish. We had 2 new team records, 3 individual event winners, 8 top three finishes, 19 top eight finishes, and 30 top sixteen finishes. When you add it all up it comes out to an outstanding weekend for CAT!
Our two new team records both came from Sydney Pickrem on Friday night. Sydney broke both the 13-14 and Senior girls team record in the 200Br when she stopped the clock at 2:39.77. This time also was her first Junior National qualifying time. Great job!
CAT had three individual event winners during the weekend. The first one was from Sydney Pickrem in the Senior Girls 200Br. The other two came from David Morgan. David’s first win was in the 15-16 Boys 400IM and his second was the 15-16 Boys 200IM. Amazing!
The top three finishers, not including those listed above, came from four different swimmers. Ryan McRae had three of them (50/100Fr, 100Bk). David had another with the 100Br. Zach Perrotti had our final top three finish with the 200Bk. Stupendous!
CAT had nine different swimmers finish in the top eight. Not including those already listed, we had Justin Buck (200Br), Ryan (200Fr, 200Bk), Caroline Myers (800/1500Fr, 400IM), Zach (200IM), Ashley Rossi (1500Fr), Megan Rossi (800Fr), and Kelli Swanson (100/200Bk). Excellent!
We also had thirty top sixteen finishes from eleven different swimmers. Besides the swims listed above, we had Teo Bosciano (100/200/400Fr), Justin (100Br), Abbey King (800Fr), Ryan (800Fr), David (400Fr), Caroline (400Fr), Zach (100Fly), Ashley (200Bk), and Megan (400Fr). Brilliant!
Finally, we had five swimmers achieve 100% best times. There were Teo, Grayson Magruder, Ryan, Zach, and Sydney. Additionally, we had two swimmers drop a huge amount of time. Caroline dropped 54 seconds in her 1500Fr on Sunday and Kathleen Rossi took off 18 seconds in her 800Fr on Thursday. Remarkable!
Again, this was a great job by these swimmers and we continue to show the state that we are a team to be reckoned with!
