SWIM OFFICIALS NEEDED $100 team credit- Upcoming Clinic

Dear Families,

Rocklin Swim Team is in need of USA Swimming certified Stroke & Turn officials. At this time our team has 2 certified officials and is in need of 3 more officials. For every USA sanctioned swim meet we attend, Rocklin Swim Team is required to provide timers and certified officials based on our number of participating swimmers. Without a sufficient number of officials, swim meets cannot be held. During the spring there were instances where meets had to be cancelled due to an insufficient number of officials.

Sierra Nevada Swimming will host SNS Officials Zoom Clinic Opportunities for prospective (new) & existing Officials on:

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, 7:00 - 9:00 PM, our LSC will host a SNS Officials Clinic (Zoom Format) for Prospective (new) & Returning Officials
- Will fulfill the yearly required Clinic Attendance for the 2021-2022 Season

On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, 7:00 - 8:00 PM our LSC will host a SNS Officials Long Course Clinic (Zoom Format)
- With Long Course Season approaching, a refresher concerning the differences and nuances of Officiating at a Long Course Meet

Meanwhile, save the date : October 1, 2022 8:00-11:00 AM for the single ANNUAL clinic that must be attended by all Sierra Nevada Officials. Even if you attend a clinic Oct '21-April '22, you must attend the October 1 '22 clinic and register for the next year at that time. Please put it on your calendar and ask all your teammates to join in. It is open to anyone who wants to be involved in swim meets.

If you think you may be willing to help by becoming an official, please contact me for questions. I would be happy to explain the required steps. There is some training required, but it will help you to better understand the sport and allow our team to continue to compete.

Once you are certified, Rocklin Swim Team will reimburse you for the cost of your USA Membership ($70.00) and background check ($38.00). In addition, Rocklin Swim Team will apply a $100.00 credit to your account to be applied toward registration fees, meet fees, etc. This credit will help to offset any costs associated with the purchase of the required official's uniform (Navy khakis/shorts/skirt, white polo/golf shirt, and white sneakers).

STEP 2 AFTER ATTENDING TRAINING:

Good afternoon,

First of all, I would like to thank each of you for volunteering to become USA Swimming officials and taking time out of your busy schedule this morning to attend the mandatory clinic. We cannot continue to have successful swim meets without you.

If you have not already done so, please complete the attached USA Swimming non-athlete application and send it with a check made out to Sierra Nevada Swimming in the amount of $72.00 to:

Once you receive confirmation your registration is complete, you can complete your background check by clicking on the following link:

After your registration is processed and your background check is complete, you may begin working on your 6 required deck sessions. As Melissa mentioned this morning, you are welcome to show up at any meet to train, unless there are differing instructions in the meet sheet. Be sure to have the meet referee sign your deck session training slip before you leave the meet. If you forget to take your training slip with you, ask the meet referee for a slip. It is important to obtain these signatures to ensure you receive credit for all deck sessions. If you complete and mail your registration this weekend, there is a chance you may be cleared to begin training at Spooktacular next weekend.

Other items that need to be completed during the training process are the Athlete Protection Training (APT), Concussion Protocol Training, and the Stroke and Turn certification examination. Melissa will be sending out a checklist to help you keep track of your progress.
