SBA Seeking Head Coach
South Bay Aquatics – Head Coach Position
South Bay Aquatics, established in 2001, is a nonprofit youth swim organization established to promote swimming through the southern part of San Diego County.  SBA is seeking a Head Coach to carry forward the team’s mission and vision statements. 
The Head Coach should inspire and communicate effectively with parents, swimmers and coaches alike, fostering relationships across all ages and groups.  The Head Coach reports to the SBA Board of Directors.
Prospective candidates should be able to work with coaches to ensure athletes are prepared for advancement through the team. Candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in handling conflict and collaboration across all aspects of the team (parents, swimmers, coaches, board)
The Head Coach position primarily covers three main areas of SBA: parents, swimmers and coaches. Responsibilities within each area include, but are not limited to:
Serve as a mentor to coaches to ensure success and continuity throughout all groups
Coordinate technical direction with coaches and plan workouts
Conduct regular staff meetings with coaches regarding practice schedules, upcoming swim meets, etc.
Work with coaching staff to ensure meets and other functions have representation
Coordinate entry guidelines for new swimmers and advancement through groups
Have a firm understanding of SBA’s mission and vision to be able to address parents’ questions/concerns about the program
Be available to parents across all groups by email, phone, or in person if the situation allows/warrants
Effectively communicate team’s vision and progression through quarterly parent meetings
Coaching senior program on daily basis, and other groups on a temporary basis as needed to maintain team continuity
Be available for 15 minutes after practice to discuss any issues
Collaborate with swimmers (all groups) and coaches to create a plan for advancement
Have/gain knowledge of college recruiting guidelines across all levels and offer assistance/resources to senior swimmers wanting to pursue collegiate swimming
Other Responsibilities:
Team management
Coordinate a training plan and implement ways to maximize all groups
Promote swimming within the community ensuring all age and experience levels are welcome 
Plan and schedule SBA programs.
Assist and/or participate in all SBA activities
Attend regularly scheduled Board Meetings, providing reports and acting as intermediary between board and coaching staff, reporting relevant information
Have/gain knowledge in USA Swimming’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through training and workshops
Work with Board to recruit potential coaching candidates as needed
Represent  SBA at LSC meetings
The Head Coach will maintain membership in USA Swimming and successfully completing all required and approved USA Swimming safety trainings for swim coaches.  (e.g. First Aid, CPR and Safety Training).  ASCA Certification through level 2 is preferred but may be achieved through SBA. ASCA Certification Level 3-5 (optional but encouraged). A $250 bonus will be paid for EACH level achieved beyond level 2. SBA will incur all costs of membership, training and certification expenses (course registration, materials, and testing fees).
