Greater Vancouver Food Bank Fundraiser

Similar to last year, Hollyburn is challenging sports committees to raise funds for a chosen charity. It is a bit of a competition (of course), so I'm sure we all want to contribute to make the Hurricanes the top fundraising team!

The swim team committee has chosen the Greater Vancouver Food Bank as our charity of choice. Even in normal times, this organization struggles to feed all the folks that are in need, and this year promises to be more difficult due to the pandemic and the floods.

To keep it simple we will be charging $10 to each swimmer's Hollyburn account in support of the charity. Please note there will be no tax receipts issued for this donation. If you prefer not to donate the $10, you can opt out by emailing Tammy Lawrence at [email protected] by December 2nd.

If you wish to give more ($20, $50, $100 or whatever you feel comfortable with) and receive a tax receipt, please do it directly with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and confirm that you have done it with he amount of the donation to Tammy Lawrence at [email protected] by December 2nd. That way your donation can be included for the purposes of the challenge.

In addition to the above, we thought it would be nice to get the kids involved this year. So this weekend (November 27 and 28) at our Hollyburn Swim Meet there will be a box on deck for food donations. Please have your child bring one or two non-perishable food items.

If they aren't attending the meet, please bring the items to our Team Social on Monday, November 29 from 4:30-7:00pm.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Tammy Lawrence.
