This past week, CAT’s Nick Alexiou, Maddie Edwards, Matt Ellis, David Morgan, Zach Perrotti, and Sydney Pickrem traveled to Irvine, CA for the USA Swimming Junior Nationals. All of our swimmers swam incredibly well and CAT had its first ever swimmer make a USA Swimming International Team!
Matt Ellis became CAT’s first swimmer to make an international team when he finished in third place in the 100Fr. His time of 50.67 also broke the Senior team record. In addition to this, Matt placed in the 100Fly (10th) and the 200Fly (13th). His time in the 100Fly (55.19) was another Senior Team Record. Amazing!
Nick Alexiou placed in two events, the 400Fr (14th) and the 200Fr (15th). Both of these swims, along with the 800Fr and 1500Fr, were best times for him. Excellent!
David Morgan went four of four with swimming best times during the week. His events were the 800Fr, 200Fly, 200IM, and 400IM. Stupendous!
Zach Perrotti had two events during the meet, the 200Fly and 200Bk. In the 200Fly he was just off his lifetime best and was just a few seconds off his best time in the 200Bk. Nice!
Sydney Pickrem had two best times, 100Br and 200Br, and was just off her best in the 200IM. Her time in the 200Br was also a new Senior team record when she went a 2:39.33. Outstanding!
Finally, we had Maddie Edwards. She went a best time in her 100Bk and went season best times in 200Bk, 200Br, 200IM, and 400IM. Brilliant!
Again, this was a great job by all of swimmers and a great way to finish off the summer. Great job everyone!
