This past weekend, CAT’s Matt Ellis competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Maui, HI. This was quite an accomplishment for Matt to represent USA Swimming in this meet.
Throughout the weekend Matt swam very well. His highest place finish came in the 50Fr when he got 9th place with a 23.49. He also finished 10th in the 100Fly when he stopped the clock at 54.78. That time was also fast enough for a new team record. Finally, in the 100Fr, his time was good enough to place in the top 8 but the US can only have four swimmers compete in finals and his time was the sixth best.
Overall, it was a very good meet for Matt and the coaching staff couldn’t be happier with his performance. Hopefully in the future CAT will continue to put more and more swimmers on international teams like this. In order for that to happen though everyone will need to work harder and smarter so they continue to head in the right direction. Again, congrats Matt!
