2010 USMS Long Course Nationals in Puerto Rico

Walnut Creek sent a tiny contingent to the long course nationals in Puerto Rico with only the husband and wife team of Peter Guadagni and Kildine Harms making the trip. While the team was small, they did bring back 8 medals including one national championship.

The event was held at the Natatorium of San Juan, a facility modeled after the 1996 Atlanta Olympics Natatorium at Georgia Tech (location of the 2010 USMS Short Course Nationals). The pools are covered to protect swimmers from the sun but open on the sides to provide an outdoor swimming environment. Because Puerto Rico is so close to the equator the temperature was always warm but never really hot. However, summer seems to be the monsoon season in San Juan with torrential rain falling for about an hour most afternoons.
