Cory Chitwood Swims Prime Time

Last night Cory Chitwood celebrated his Fourth of July with a very special group of swimmers. In the fastest 200 backstroke heat in history, Cory finished a very impressive 7th place going his best time  by over 2 seconds and placing him 21st in the World. This swim was shown live on NBC. In the heat was world record holder Ryan Lochte and now co-owner of the world record Aaron Piersol who tied the record last night. Cory’s time would have been 3rd in the last two Olympic trials.
Only the top two in each event get to go to the Olympics but Cory did put his name in the running for 2012. "I want to do that again", Cory explained after the race. "It was such a rush to parade out in front of 14,000 fans."

Cory Chitwood and Claire Dickmaan became the first two Clippers to ever swim and represent the Clippers at Olympic Trials. They both have laid the groundwork for many more to swim at this level in the future. Keep Working Hard!!
