Toys for Kids drive
December 7, 2010
On Wednesday, December 22 at 4 pm...firefighters from ladder #1401 will come by Ridgway Swim Center to pick up the toys and share a little holiday spirit with Neptune swimming. Fire engines will be open for kids to climb in and hang out in - WOW!!
We need new unwrapped toys for all ages of kids. Each year we are asked which toys do we need the most and though we accept any new unwrapped toy, the toys for older kids, tweens and teens, are the ones we run short on.
About Toys for Kids
For over twenty years the Santa Rosa Fire Fighters Local 1401 has conducted a toy collection for needy children of the Santa Rosa area. This unique spirit of Christmas, conducted in cooperation with the community, businesses and supporting agencies affords an opportunity to reach out and provide those less fortunate children in the Santa Rosa area with at least one new toy at the Holiday Season.
Where do all the toys go?
The 2009 Toys for Kids program distributed toys to over 12,000 children through the following organizations: Schools: Kwana, Biella, Bellevue, Lincoln, Steel Lane, Meadow VIew, Luther Burbank, Cook, Comstock, Sheppard, Elsie Allen, Head Start Selpa and Roseland Shelters: Redwood Gospel, St. Vincent De Paul, Women's Recovery, Y.W.C.A. Safe house, Children's Home, Homeless Shelter, R.E.A.P. and Athena House. Community Groups: Forest Winds Apts., Giving Tree, Kashia Reservation, Bob Burk's kids, Papago Ct. neighborhood Assn., Aston Ave. Neighborhood Assn. Gang Intervention Program, American Legion Auxiliary and R-Hoops.
Please help make this a wonderful holiday season for all!!
