DCST Takes Bite out of Sharks
 
            On Saturday, January 15, DCST defeated the visiting Leaning Tower YMCA Sharks (Niles, IL) by a score of 924 - 269. DCST is now 5 – 0 in dual meets this season. As a team, DCST swam had a great meet with 157 career best times out of a total of 284 swims for a 55% improvement rate. Furthermore, DCST had 27 swims which were first time legal swims in breaststroke, butterfly or IM. DCST also had 23 swims which achieved the District Qualifying and 14 swims which achieved the Area Qualifying time for the first time this year.
            A very impressive 55 swimmers had a great meet with at least two career best times. These swimmers were: Ty Ament, Gavin Anderson, Tyler Berger, Kristina Biundo, Jacob Bjork, Acelin Bruhl, Drake Burger, Sadie Burton, Michael Carlson, Ashley Crotteau, Tyler Crown, Grace Fergus, Nolan Fergus, Alyssa Ferrigan, Bailey Flemming, Grace Flemming, Roman Friedrichs, Madisyn Grever, Sabrina Groce, Sarah Hein, Analiese Hudson, Jacob Hull, Jensen Keck, Megan Kish, Brianna Kramer, Cokie LeBlanc, Justin Lee, Jonathan Liu, Michael Lorr, Julia Luo, Caroline Mackey, Abby Oberg, Kylie Olson, Abby Pardridge, Dane Pardridge, Dylan Powers, Emily Raetzke, Kyle Rasmussen, Hannah Regan, Riley Regan, Josie Rivera, David Ruetten, Paul Ruetten, Tyler Schultz, Emily Sichz, Garret Sims, Logan Sims, Emily Stark, Alex Wang, Jenni Weber, Elizabeth White, Trevor Yaeger, Athena Ye, Kyle Zitkus and Taylor Zitkus.
            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Analiese Hudson, age 8, and Tyler Schultz, age 12, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
