Fish, Evans capture State titles

2A - Gus Evans, Austin Fish, and Sehome high school took home titles at the Boys 2A State Championships, this past weekend, February 18-19, 2011.

Evans won the 100 Breast in 59.62, narrowly edging BBST teammate Patrick Gregory (59.92).  Fish captured titles in the 200 IM (1:55.04) and 100 Back (52.25 – new 2A State Record). 

Before the final relay, Sehome held a 4 point lead over rival Interlake for the team title.  If Interlake won the relay and Sehome finished 2nd, the team title would be a draw (tie).  Sehome and Interlake were tied through the first 2 legs of the 400 free relay, and were over 1 second behind going in to the final leg.  Austin Fish (46.25) anchored Sehome to a come from behind victory by .17 hundredths of a second, securing the team title for Sehome in the most exciting finish in 2A State history.

**Austin Fish was named Swimmer of the Meet for the 2A Championships.

3A - Daniel Hsieh finished in 12th place in the 200 IM (2:02.48) and 11th place in the 100 Breast (1:02.54).
