Hail, rain, wind and 40-degree temperatures did not slow down the 10 members of the Napa Valley Swim Team who competed in the Pacific Swimming Spring Short Course Junior Olympics Meet March 18-20 at the San Ramon Olympic Pool and Aquatic Park.
More than 1,500 swimmers from 99 teams competed in the three-day event.
Emily Dusky, 9, competed in her first Junior Olympics in the 50-yard breaststroke.
Nicholas Cisco, 10, also competed in his first Junior Olympics, having qualified in the 50 freestyle, 100 free and 200 free. Cisco swam to a best time in the 100 free (1:08.78).
William Fallini-Haas, 10, qualified for and swam in five events: the 50 backstroke, 100 back, 50 butterfly, 100 individual medley and 200 IM. He swam to best times in the 100 IM (1:20.58) and 200 IM (2:51.46), dropping 2.7 seconds.
Nathalie Brewster, 12, qualified for and swam in five events: the 50 free, 200 free, 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM. She swam to best times in the 200 back (2:20.05, dropping 1.45 seconds) and the 200 IM (2:29.70, dropping 2.47 seconds).
Olivia Ha-Hoang, 12, qualified for and competed in six events. She achieved a new Far Western time in the 50 free, placing 12 overall. In the 100 free, she swam a 59.33, the first time she has broken 1:00.00, and took ninth in the 50 fly. She also competed in the 100 IM, 50 back and 200 back.
Grace Murphy, 12, qualified for and competed in three events: the 100 breaststroke (1:17.96, her best time), the 50 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke.
Maddie Perna, 12, qualified for and competed in three events: the 50 back (32.58, her best time), 100 back (1:10.46, also her best time) and 200 back.
In her first Junior Olympic meet in the 13-14 age group, Megan Minor, 13, qualified for and competed in seven events. She achieved best times in the 400 IM (4:58.61) and 50 free (26.41), took 13th in the 200 back, and also competed in the 200 free, 100 fly, 200 IM and 100 back.
Mia Facey, 13, competed in five events and achieved a best time and ninth-place finish in the 400 IM (4:46.18) and swam to a ninth-place finish in the 100 fly (1:01.46). She also competed in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 IM.
In the boys 15-16 division, Cody Dusky competed in the 100 back in his first Junior Olympics.
