2011 NVST Awards Banquet

The Napa Valley Swim Team recently held its annual awards banquet to honor the swimmers on the team. Every swimmer on the team received a new swim cap in recognition of the team’s 50th anniversary and for recognition of their hard work and dedication to team over the past year. The team also handed out most improved and most outstanding awards for each age group, both girls and boys; the honorable coaches award; spirit award and the yearly Michael Plakk award was given out.

The NVST Coaches Award is given to the swimmer on the team who has gone above and beyond all expectations during the past year and who has also exhibited a positive attitude, leadership and coachability. Fifteen-year-old Elise Roberts was selected for this award.

The NVST Spirit Award is given to the swimmer who consistently shows the highest degree of team spirit throughout the year and this year’s recipient is Chase Taylor.

The Michael Plakk Award was presented to Grace O’Dwyer. 

This award is given to the team’s most outstanding 8-and-under swimmer, taking into account attitude, swimming ability and coachability. This award is named after a popular and cheerful 5-year-old Napa Valley Swim Team swimmer who died tragically in a car accident on Dec. 30, 1986.

The girls 8-and-under Most Improved award was presented to Erynn Robinson and the boys 8-and-under Most Improved award was presented to Iona Pascual. The girls 8-and-under Most Outstanding award was presented to Jamie Jory and the boys 8-and-under Most Outstanding award was presented to Barrett McMichael. The girls 9-10 year old Most Improved Award was presented to Emily Dusky and the boys 9-10 year old Most Improved Award was presented to Nicholas Cisco.

The girls 9-10 year old Most Outstanding Award was presented to Karenna Meyer and the boys 9-10 year old Most Outstanding Award was presented to William Fallini-Haas. The girls 11-12 year old Most Improved award was presented to Grace Murphy and the boys 11-12 year old Most Improved award was presented to Cayd Roberts.

The girls 11-12 year old Most Outstanding award was presented to Megan Minor and the boys 11-12 year old Most Outstanding Award was presented to Quinn McMichael. The girls 13-14 year old Most Improved award was presented to Mia Facey and the boys 13-14 year old Most Improved award was presented to Bradley John Erickson and Louis Ayers. The girls 13-14 year old Most Outstanding award was presented to Alex Swanson.

The girls 15 and over Most Improved award was presented to Haley Murphy and the boys 15 and over Most Improved Award was presented to Omar Saldivar. 

The girls 15 and over Most Outstanding award was presented to Megan Morris and the boys 15 and over Most Outstanding award was presented to Sam Starr.
