NVST Shines At San Jose Meet

 
 

The Napa Valley Swim Team sent 21 members to Pacific Swimming’s Adam Szmidt Memorial Long Course Junior Olympics Meet, July 7-10 in San Jose.

More than 90 teams and 1,500 swimmers competed in the four-day meet at Frank Fiscalini International Swim Center.

In the girls 9-10 age division for NVST, Emily Dusky competed in her first long course Junior Olympic meet. She qualified for and swam to best times in the 50 breaststroke (48.88 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1 minute, 50.72 seconds). 

Karenna Meyer achieved best times and new Far Western Times in the 100 breaststroke (1:39.29), 50 butterfly (37.12) and 200 individual medley (3:04.08), and got a best time in the 50 freestyle (35.87).

For the 9-10 boys age group, Nicholas Cisco competed in his first long course Junior Olympic meet, posting best times  in the 50 free (35.97), 100 free (1:19.12), 200 free (2:48.93) and 200 IM (3:22.10).

William Fallini-Haas placed seventh with a new Pacific Reportable Time in the 100 fly (1:24.94), took 10th with a new Far Western Time in the 50 fly (39.35), and achieved best times in the 100 free (1:18.88), 50 backstroke (41.78) and 100 back (1:25.92), placing 10th in the latter.

In the girls 11-12 division, Nathalie Brewster competed in and achieved best times in the 50 free (31.99), 100 free (1:09.58), 50 back (37.48), 100 back (1:18.66) and 200 back (2:53.43).

Annika Jean Erickson competed in her first long course Junior Olympic meet and swam a 3:23.19 in the 200 breaststroke.

Olivia Ha-Hoang competed in the 50 free (31.00), 100 free (1:07.63), 200 free (2:32.20), 400 free (5:18.22) and 50 back (36.62).

Megan Jory qualified for and competed in her first Long Course Junior Olympics Swim Meet and got a best time in the 100 back (1:21.64).

Gracie Murphy qualified for and notched best times in the 50 breaststroke (38.44), 100 breaststroke (1:27.79) and 200 breaststroke (3:18.33).

She had a new Pacific Reportable Time in the 50 breaststroke and a new Far Western Time in the 100 breaststroke.

The girls 13-14 group saw Megan Minor place ninth with a best time in the 100 back (1:11.16), place ninth in the 200 back (2:37.47), achieve best times in the 50 free (29.55) and 400 free (4:53.11), and also compete in the 400 IM and 200 IM.

Mia Facey achieved a new Senior Section time and Pacific Reportable time in the 50 free (28.93).

Also representing NVST were Alex Swanson (13-14 girls), Bradley John Erickson (13-14 boys), Hayden Corley (15-16 boys), Cody Dusky (15-16 boys), Nicholas Meyer (15-16 boys), Haley Murphy (15-16 girls), Megan Morris (17-18 girls) and Chase Taylor (17-18 boys).

Napa Valley Swim Team offers a non-competitive training program, summer swim classes and pre-competitive swimming instruction.
