December 5, 2008
Timeline for this weekend: (both days I
was generous and allowed for minor delays)
Pentathlon: 9:00 – 12:15
Sr- Meet: 9:00 – 2:00
Warmup / cool-down – during meets:
During the meets lanes 10 and 11 will be available at all times. The little pool will not be available on Saturday but will be available on Sunday until 12:00.
Warmup – prior to meets:
CAST swimmers – check with your coach. Swimmers from other teams. . . general warm-up for other teams begins at 7:30 there are no assigned warmup times/lanes for the general warmup.
Dave’s E-Mail: I have not been able to access my “castswm.com” e-mail since I left for Nationals on Tuesday morning. If you have sent me an e-mail this week to my castswim acct., please go back and re-send it to firstname.lastname@example.org! Otherwise I will not get it until Monday.
Volunteers: PLEASE HELP! We still have many volunteer positions that need to be filled. Even if you don’t have a swimmer in the meet, it is a great way to get your volunteer obligations filled. Any parent or responsible swimmer may sign up for these positions. Level 4 and 5 swimmers I need you to help where you can—please check the volunteer sign up for Saturday or times when you’re not swimming on Sunday and help out.
Notes from Nationals: I’m in Atlanta GA with Brandon Lowe, Justin DiFederico, and Jessica Heim at the USA Swimming Short Course National Championships. Yesterday Jessica swam in the 500 freestyle and dropped a second and went a 4:54.8 and finished in 37th. Brandon and Justin didn’t have regular events on Thursday so they swam time trials --- Brandon swam 100 breast and went 59 (a little off his time), and Justin swam a 200 Back dropping 4 seconds off his previous best. He went a 1:51.8, which I think is just shy of the San Diego record.
Today they all have regular events: Justin swims the 100 fly, Jessica and Brandon have the 200 free.
Good luck to you all in San Diego this weekend! Oh, level 3-4-5 practice on Saturday a.m. is 6:00 – 7:30 at the kroc center.
Remember if you need to e-mail me. . . send it to email@example.com.
