The 3rd annual USA Swimmings Long Beach Grand prix meet concluded yesterday. On Sunday our swimming was not quite as sharp as on Friday and Saturday, but the swimming remained very solid. The highlight swims of Saturday were Justins 400 IM's and the girls 800 free relay. Justin started the season with a 4:07 in his 400 Im and had dropped to 4:05 then 4:04 and then 4:03 before this meet. In the prelims he swam a 4:00 and came back in finals with a 3:58 finishing in 6th place. In the 800 Free relay Erin Cox led off with a 200 just .2 short of her best and then Haley Ferrer split a 156 (3 seconds under her best 200), and Michaela McLean split a 158 (2 seconds under her best 200), and Jessi heim brought it home - while not her best time - passing 2 teams during the final leg.
Making it back to the Finals / consols for a second swim were: jessi Heim (200 Free), Brandon Lowe (200 Free), and Justin in the 400 IM.
On Sunday everyone was a little tired from the previous 3 days, but we still had a few best times: Erin Cox dropped over a second in the 100 back, and Brandon Meier and Brandon Lowe dropped in thier 100 breasts.
Swimming in the evening Finals / Consols on Monday were: Justin (100 Fly, 100 Back, and 200 IM), Jessi (1650 free), and Brandon L (100 Br).
Like i mentioned in one of the other reports, we also were able to see some of the fastest swimmers of all time doin' their thang. Among the swimmers were Olympians like Ous Mellouli (gold medalist - mile), Mary Descenza Olympian who broke the American Record on Saturday in the 200 Fly, Ryan Lochte - multi gold medalist, and Matt Greavers double gold medalist and the meet's high point winner.
It's just one step among many for our swimmers who attended, and our swimmers are looking forward to climbing higher for the future.
