Aquazot Age Group Swimmers Break SCS Records!!!
Two Aquazot 12 year old swimmers broke Southern California Swimming records this past weekend.
Eva Merrell had a bunch of great performances at the California-Nevada State Championships in Santa Clarita. Highlighting her excellent meet was a 27.24 second blast in the women’s 50 free event. This time broke the 1998 SCS record of Courtney Cashion which stood at 27.31! Eva also narrowly missed two other SCS records as her 100 free time of 58.89 was only .6 off the current record, and her 200 backstroke time of 2:21.83 was only 1.5 seconds off that record.
Matthew Lee was outstanding at the Junior Olympics in Riverside. His SCS record came in the 400 freestyle, where his 4:23.48 was over a second better than the 4:24.63 of Matthew Hales from 2011! Matthew was also very good in the 200 free, where he was within a second of the SCS record, and in the 100 free, where his 57.63 relay lead-off split was only .5 off of the record.
Congratulations to both of these Aquazot teammates for these great achievements!
