a message from the HEAD COACH

 Hi All,

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all the swimmers at COOGS on a great season. This year was the first year that we took a team to Junior Nationals, having 9 swimmers qualify, and we ended it with a swimmer qualifying for the Senior National Championships. (read the Coaches blog for more information).  Following on from previous years we have numerous swimmers leaving us in the fall to start their college swimming careers, and I can't wait to see how they do. Most importantly, at our home meet in April we had over 130 swimmers from COOGS entered. That was a record for us and an exciting sign for the future.

This short course season COOGS will see some changes being made. All changes we have made have been for the benefit of the team and the swimmers’ best interests. I'm sure by now you all know about Coach Alison joining our coaching staff. We, all coaches currently at COOGS, are very excited to get to work with Coach Alison and know that she will bring a wealth of knowledge and some fresh new ideas to our team. For those that haven't read her profile, she is coming to us from SwimMac in NC, a team that had 6 individuals on the USA Olympic team.

Sadly, we will not be using the Friendswood HS pool this year.  There have been a lot of e-mails flying about regarding Central staff not caring about the South program and Central swimmers getting better treatment. I can assure you all that nothing could be further from the truth. Since starting the South program it has been my goal to ensure that both sites run identically and every swimmer gets the full benefit of being a member of COOGS. All those who remain with COOGS will reap the benefits of a coaching staff that is working closely together.

Registration is on the 27th at the JCC location so that you can meet ALL the coaches and ask any questions you may have. In the meantime, please click here to pre-register so we can plan our groups and also prepare your personalized registration packets. Fees will not increase in the upcoming season.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
