Napa Valley Swim Team members compete in Washington meet

Napa Valley Swim Team members Megan Minor, Alex Swanson, Elise Roberts, Haley Murphy and Omar Saldivar recently competed at the 64th annual Husky Invitational Swim Meet. The meet was held Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.

More than 1,000 swimmers from more than 83 top college and club teams from throughout the western United States and Canada competed in the meet’s largest field since its inception in the 1940s, and the five NVST representatives rose to the occasion with great swims, lifetime best times, and a new team record.

Minor, 14, achieved best times in the 50 freestyle (25.58) and the 200 free (2:02.40). She also competed in the 100 backstroke, 200 back and 100 free.

Swanson, 16, achieved best times in the 200 individual medley (2:15.37), 50 free (25.41) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.07), where she placed 24th. She also competed in the 200 breaststroke and the 100 free.

Roberts, 17, achieved a best time in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.39), where she not only swam to a 17th-place finish but also set a new NVST team record. She also achieved a best time in the 200 IM (2:07.63) and also competed in the 200 breaststroke.

Murphy, 17, achieved best times in the 100 free (54.49), 100 breaststroke (1:08.45) and 200 breaststroke (2:33.30).

Saldivar, 17, achieved best times in the 200 IM (2:05.15), 100 butterfly (54.19), and 100 free (51.46).
