January 13, 2013
Welcome back for another year with the Napa Valley Swim Team! Although we faced some profound challenges in 2012, we also experienced a multitude of high points, including winning RESLs for the 6th straight year, sending two swimmers to Junior Nationals, 14 new team records, and the highest membership total in almost 20 years. Thank you for your time and energy as we continue to offer our swimmers the best possible program, and thanks for being a part of the NVST family.
Breaking News: Upcoming Dual Meet and Change of Practice Venue
NVST vs VACA Dual Meet, Saturday, January 26
We have recently been invited (and accepted) to compete against the Vacaville Swim Team in a good old-fashioned dual meet on Saturday, January 26. If you are not familiar with dual meets, they are competitions in which one team competes directly with another, all events are scored, and there will be a winning team and losing team. They tend to be relatively short, exciting, and filled with team spirit. This meet will start with warmups at 7:00 AM, competition at 8:30, and will likely be over by 12:00 PM, and that will be the only day and session of the entire meet. There will be no hospitality or snack bar, but the host team will have pizza for all the swimmers following the meet. Please indicate your attendance by returning the slips that the coaches will be handing out. Each swimmer will be entered by the coaches in up to three events. Entry fee will be a total of $10 for the meet. We would love to have everyone attend and see how exciting a dual meet can be.
Return to Napa Valley College Pool
We just heard this week that we will be able to move our practices back to the Napa Valley College pool just in time to avoid the significant scheduling conflicts of the upcoming high school swimming season. We will be returning to our normal schedule and to the Napa Valley College pool on Monday, February 4.
Here is our anticipated schedule for 2013:
