Spring Pre-Piranha Prep

Dear Piranha Parents,

Now that summer registration has started, kids are getting excited to get back in the pool.  You do not have to wait until the first practice. Come join your fellow Piranhas at Claude Moore Rec Center for our Spring Session of “Pre-Piranha Prep” (3P).

Each year 3P gets bigger and better! The program is set up to give Piranhas who do not swim year round an opportunity to “Stay Wet”. So when summer swim starts, they do not have to re-learn everything from 10 month ago.

3P is not meant to replace year round swim programs for children who participate in those. Rather, it is geared toward the kids who play 1, 2 or 3 other sports/activities during the year and don’t have time to swim year round. Four years ago, we realized that no program existed locally to fill this need.

Coaches focus on proper stroke technique (to include dives and turns), swimming fitness, and most important – Having Fun!!!   Previous years' feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. But in order to improve 3P, please let us know what you would like to include for your Piranha to work on at 3P.

Practice is held at the Claude Moore Recreation Center (CMRC). We currently have lanes rented from 1:00-2:00pm and 2:00-3:00pm on the following six Sundays: April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 12, 19.

3P is primarily for 7 to 12 year olds who were on the ODSL or CSL Piranhas this past summer.   All kids must be able to swim across the pool unassisted. The shallowest depth of all the lanes is 6 feet deep! These are not swim lessons; the sessions will be set up just like summer practice, with up to 7 swimmers in a lane (max).

We only charge $60 for the entire Winter Season ($10/ practice). You will not find a better value. All proceeds cover lane rental and coaches' salary.

Please download the info / sign-up sheet for all details.

Space is very limited.  We will do our best to accommodate any special requests. Please send all Pre-Piranha Prep questions to Max Maxwell (Piranha 3P Coordinator). He can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 703-597-3430.
