Important Information about the Hurricanes


Registration is now open for both the Spring Developmental program and the summer season. The Hurricanes Spring Developmental Program will be offered at the WARF, beginning on Sunday April 7th, and running every Sunday through May 19th. The cost of this program is $70 per swimmer. REMINDER….A late fee of $25 per account will be assessed for all summer registrations occurring after April 30th.  Registration will close on June 5th.  Credit card payments are now accepted online for both Spring and Summer programs, or you may choose to pay by check. If you choose to pay by check, your check should be mailed to the address provided during registration.



Have you seen the new team suits? If you haven’t done so already, please check out the team “store” by clicking on the RIPTIDE logo located under the SHOP tab at  There you will find the new team suit and the 2013 spirit wear offering.  All spirit wear orders must be placed by MAY 4th so that they can be ready for pick-up during the first week of practice.  If you need to try-on suits prior to ordering, please visit the Riptide store.  Hurricanes’ Day at Riptide is scheduled for Saturday, April 24th, 11:00am-4:00pm.  Spiritwear samples and team suits will be available for try on and all non-logoed, regular priced merchandise will be 20% off.



Fundraising is essential to a successful season, as it helps offset team expenses without having to raise registration fees. We are trying to find effective alternatives to the typical “selling” fundraisers.

A new fundraiser was launched through – simply visit, go to the SHOP page and click on the Swim Outlet logo.  The team will earn 8% of all sales when purchases are made through the Hurricanes website (you should see a “Brookside Hurricanes affiliate banner” at the top of your web page).   In addition to swim gear, Swim Outlet also carries running, yoga, cycling, and triathlon supplies. 



A portion of all spiritwear sales made through Riptide goes to the team. The online store offers choices for both swimmers and parents, so please check it out!


Eat n’ Earn

We are looking for volunteers to coordinate fundraisers at local restaurants. No experience necessary! All you need to do is visit the restaurant (e.g. Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Ledos) and speak with the manager to coordinate the dine-in fundraiser.  We are looking to schedule a few of these types of fundraisers PRIOR to the start of the summer swim season.  If you can assist with this effort, please reply to this email and let us know that you are willing to help.



Sponsorships are also critical to our fundraiser program.  If your business would like to sponsor the team, or you know a business that would be interested in sponsoring the Hurricanes, please reply to this email to request additional information.



The 2013 Meet and Practice schedules are now posted online.  Practice days and times will remain the same as last year.  Please note that despite the recent change to the school calendar that moved the last day of school to Friday, June 7thmorning practices will not begin until Tuesday, June 18th.  Time trials will be held on Saturday, June 8th. The first meet will be on Saturday, June 15th at Meadowbrook.
