IRON swimmer qualifies and performs well at the Eastern Zone Championships

Wow, an Irondequoit Swim Club member participated in the Eastern Zone Championships!

This past Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, one of our IRON swimmers, Britt Kaukeinen, swam exceptionally well and represented our club honorable.  He was selected to the boys 13-14 team.

Britt qualified for 6 individual events at the Niagara LSC District Championships and accepted the invite to participate on the Zone Team.  This is quite an honor to be represent the NI Zone Team, let alone 6 IE's!

He swam in the following Individual Events.

50 Free--22.39--1st place

100 free--48.73--2nd place

200 Free--146.85--2nd place

500 Free--458.22--7th place

100 Back--57.02--9th place

200 Back--203.64--8th place


3 of those times are Irondequoit Swim Club Records!  He set the other ones at the District Championships.


He also was selected to swim on all 4 Zone Team Relays!

200 Free Relay--Lead off--3rd place

400 Free Relay---Lead off--1st place

200 Medley Relay--Lead off--9th place

400 Medley Relay--Lead off--6th place


So all in total, Britt swam in 16 races over 3 days, quite a feat.  He was exhausted.  He was surrounded by numerous supporters, including Coach Jean who just can't seem to stay away!  At the Zones, personal coaches are not allowed on deck, but Jean still came to every session on Friday and Saturday and offered her support.

We should be proud of our has amazing leadership, wonderful swimmers, and exceptional coaches!  Our personal thanks to Coach Jean, Coach Jason, Coach Matt and Coach Lindsay!
