The Speedo Open

The Speedo Open was held under fair skies Saturday and Sunday April 13 - 14 at the Cilandak Pool with over 260 swimmers representing 14 teams from Jakarta, Bandung and Duri, Sumatra. Swimmers competed in 6 age groups (8 & Under, 9, 10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 & Over), with 90 individual event winners and 20 relay event winners.

Our event Sponsor, SPEEDO, provided vouchers to each competitor as well as voucher prizes to the 1st place finisher in each event and to the Top 3 FINA Points winners in each age group (see below). Congratulations to ALL Swimmers for your personal achievements!

After a meet such as this one we need to thank SO many people. We hope we have not forgotten anyone. Thank you to all parent volunteers who worked on the day and especially to those who came forward to volunteer more than the minimum requirement. And thanks also to Lieve Olufsen, Katherine Pashen, Kate Cordisco, Jonathan Cordisco, Jack McGuffee and Nirhan Nurjadin for running, time keeping and announcing. Without the help of parents and siblings, we cannot run these meets and our swimmers would not have the opportunity to compete.

Special thanks go to:

·      Our VIP volunteers Elsa Donohue (PIE Principal), Terry Donohue (JIS Academy Director), Linda Round (JIS Varsity Team Coach) and Wayne Kaler (past AquaDragon and JIS Varsity Team Head Coach) who made special appearances as volunteers. We know you could have been a dozen other places this weekend but we were most pleased and thankful you decided to spend it with us!

·      Murwanto Atmadji (IT Department), Dino Vega, Torill Olufsen, Diane Ngo, Makiko Hori who took the time to attend extra training sessions and were put to work at our meet running computers in the control room and turn judging at poolside. You all did a marvellous job!

·      Our food, snack, merchandise and award coordinators Yati Parris, Hiroko Tamai, Felicita Tasi, Imelda Tanoyo, Tuty Bergin, Diane Ngo, Claudia Bae, Makiko Kawamoto. Thanks for keeping us fed and hydrated (and awarded?)!

Over And Above Extra Special Thanks to Suzy Cordisco, Janelle Hughes, Liz McGuffee and Torill Olufsen. There would not have been a meet without their hard work and dedication.
