Seven members of Peters Township Masters Swimming will be competing at the 2013 Spring National Championship this weekend (May 9-12) in Indianapolis, Indiana. U.S. Masters Swimming is national organization with more that 1,500 local clubs and workout groups for members aged 18 and older.
One of the swimmers is our own Tom Hay, who is a 1989 PTSC/PTHS alum and current PTSC parent and coaches committee chair. He will be competing in the 50 Back, 200 Fly, 50 Fly 100 IM, 100 Back, 100 Fly. Tom is seeded in the top 5 in his age group for five of his six events!
Two other PTSC/PTHS alumni competing are Brian Day (class of 1978) and Larry Maher (class of 1982). Brian will be swimming the 100 free, 100 IM and 200 IM and Larry the 100 free, 50 fly, 50 free and 100 fly.
The remaining members of the PTMS team are Dan Buerger who went to Churchill High School (now Woodland Hills High School), Scott Fisher who graduated from Bethel Park, Mark Cox who is originally from Virginia, and Matt Meade originally from Connecticut
Tom, Brian and Larry were all inagural inductees of the Peters Township High School Swim Team Wall of Fame and as you can see, they continue to excel in and promote swimming in our community and demonstrate that it is a lifetime sport.
