CSL Piranhas Weekly Newsletter (June 4 2013)

Upcoming week at a glance:

  • Fri, June 7 - Morning practices begin!

  • Sat Jun 8 - Ice Cream Social, 2pm - 3:30 pm @ Southern Walk Pool (Joint event with ODSL Piranhas. Come out and enjoy some ice cream with members from our sister team.)

News/Announcements:

Morning practices begin this Friday!!! (Please note, this is a change from the original schedule. Since school is ending on a Thursday this year, the coaches have decided to start morning practices this Friday.) That schedule is:

  • 8:00 - 9:00am       11 and over

  • 9:00 - 10:00 am     9/10

  • 10:00 - 10:45 am   7/8 **

  • 10:45 - 11:30 am   7/8 ** and 6 and under **

(Please note: 8 and unders do not have practice on the mornings of Wednesday meets)

Communications : With summer thunderstorms making frequent appearances, we are often forced to cancel practices due to lightning. Generally, if we hear thunder, or our weather app indicates lightning within 6-8 miles, we will clear the pool for 30 minutes. As soon as a practice is cancelled, we will

1) send out a text message

2) send out an email, and

3) update the website News section with the cancellation.

Please make sure your TeamUnify accounts are up-to-date with a current email AND mobile phone number so that you will always receive our time-critical messages.

Pool Safety : We can’t help but notice several children repeatedly dipping toes, stepping into, and otherwise playing in the shallow end of the pool during practices. This is very distracting to the coaches who must keep their full attention on the swimmers they are training. Please make sure your children do not enter the pool unless the coaches have instructed them to do so. Likewise, siblings should not be playing in the baby pool, shallow area, or near any water’s edge at all for safety reasons.

Please help us keep swim practices safe and injury-free by encouraging swimmers and siblings to keep their activities within the grassy area while practice is underway. Also, please remind them as always there is no running on the pool deck and no climbing on furniture or fences. THANK YOU!!!

From the Food and Drink Committee:

Get your caffeine kick and satisfy that sweet tooth Friday mornings at swim practice! We will have coffee and jumbo muffins available for purchase so the parents can look

forward to "Donut Friday" just as much as the kids do. Bring your cash - $1.00 cup of

coffee and $2.00 muffins.

Calling all bakers- Do you have a specialty you would like to share with fellow swim families? The concession stand will gladly accept any baked goods you would care to

donate. Contact Melissa at [email protected] or Tori at [email protected]

Swimmer recognition:

Check back here for the names of the Girls' and Boys' Swimmers of the Week (SOW) within each age roster. Once our meets start, we will also list any new records here.
