Lakeridge meet recap

The Hurricanes dropped a close meet, 2563.5 - 2654.5 to Lake Ridge. The meet was very tight through out as both teams held the lead multiple times. We held the lead during the breaststroke but the Lancers were able to close the gap and take the lead in Butterfly. Then they went on to take 6 of 8 Free relays from us to seal the meet. Even though we were not able to close out the Lancers, I am still very proud of the spirited effort that the team turned in during this meet. This shows me and everyone involved with Brookside that we are competitive with the teams in the divisions above us. As Lake Ridge has always been a perennial power in this league. After the meet I got numerous compliments from Lake Ridge parents and representatives about our performance in the water, and how cooperative the kids were outside of it. I wanted to thank all of the parents for making the long trip down to this meet, as it was tough being right after the 4th. Even though it hurts losing two meets back-to-back in this fashion, I know that the Canes showed a lot of class and definitely earned a lot of respect this weekend.

Next up for the Canes is the Bridlewood Bridlewaves (1-3). The Bridlewaves have three losses against Kingsbrooke, Braemar, Ashland, and a win against Old Bridge. This is a big meet!!! Bridlewood is a divisional opponent (like Wellington) and is very similar to us. This will be the fourth time in three years that we have seen them. Last year we split the two times we saw Bridlewood, with us winning in a dual meet and them beating us at divisionals. It is important that everyone the can attend this meet does, as we need everyone to win. Remember to sign up for this meet ASAP. Please do not wait until Wednesday to commit. The Hurricanes will be in yet another tight meet this weekend as we try to get a much needed win. See you at the pool.
