Piedmont Meet Recap and Divisional Reminders

The Hurricanes fell to the Piedmont Tsunamis 2911 to 2303. There were four records that went down this weekend. Two of those being individual and two relays. Congrats to Jake Heenan for breaking the 11-12 50 free record with a time of 30.84. The record that Jake broke was one of the longest standing records in Hurricanes history, being set by Brian Flory in 1992 (21 years). Jake was not finished, as he went on to break his own record in the 50 Back with a time of 33.88. The boys 8 & under free relay of Matthew Johnson, Paul Allison, Jacob Green, and Mark Fallin captured the record with a time of 1:24.37. Also the girls 15-18 free relay of Peyton Helou, Kelsey Cook, Katie Heenan, and Camilla Brizzi took that record with a time of 2:02.07. Congrats to all of our record breakers this weekend!!! Individual DQs were at a season low of 21 and we had 2 relay DQs. Even though we didn't win, the kids did a great job of competing against stiff competition.

Next up for the Hurricanes is Divisonals. The meet will also feature the Bridlewood Bridlewaves (1-5)(0-2) and the Wellington Dolphins (2-4)(2-0). Earlier this season, Wellington squeaked past us by 90 points. We did beat Bridlewood last weekend by 362 points and Wellington beat Bridlewood by 522 points. This is going to be a very tight championship meet. Please be aware of the MONDAY night deadline to declare your intentions. The coaches will be EXTREMELY busy this week. We do not want to be guessing if you are coming or not. This adds more time to an already long process. The coaches will need at least a day and a half to ensure that everyone is properly placed. Entries will be released on Thursday, if not sooner. I would like to thank everyone of a awesome season so far!!! Here is to a great last week and Divisonal.

Please remember to indicate if you are coming to the year end banquet and how many family members will be attending.

 GO Canes GO!!!
