We hosted the GVSL Senior Meet #2 this morning at the West Irondequoit pool. Swimmers, parents, and coaches from all over Monroe County and parts beyond braved the snow and came to our pool for a great meet. As a parent of a swimmer who participated in this meet I would like to thank those Gator parents, many of whom did not have a swimmer in today's meet for getting to the pool at a very early hour to help run the show and make today's meet possible. I left the pool with a lot of pride in our organization today because of our volunteers.
As far as the swimming goes I continue to be very excited by the direction that our team is headed. We have a ton of potential and our Senior swimmers are starting to take on the challenges of new events and do the work that is necessary to become confident, experienced, and strong competitors. I was very pleased with our participation level and the quality of swims that I watched today.
The next meet that I want to push participation in is the Victor IM-X challenge coming up January 3-4. If you are a sectional qualifying Senior I would like for you to try to take on the full IM-X challenge over the two day meet. If you are a JV or Modified level swimmer try attending one of the days and swimming a longer event, maybe the 200 in a stroke that your like or the 500 free. The deadline is coming up soon so get registered.
The "IM-X" for Seniors consists of completed the 200 IM, 400 IM, 500 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 200 Fly during the course of the season. There is also a shorter version for younger swimmers. This meet gives swimmers the opportunity to do all of these events over the course of two days, what a great training opportunity! If you have any questions about this meet or need a ride let me know, Emma would love to have company when she swims in this meet!
