BCST had 4 swimmers attend the Winter JR National Championships in Greensboro NC, back on December 12th thru the 15th. The JR National meets are quickly becoming ridiculously fast. Every event winner was either setting a Meet or National Age Group record. Ed Kim, Todd McCarthy, Kayla Roberson, and Kim Williams made up the crew we brought for battle, and though it was small group they still managed to score BCST 21st overall.
Ed got off to a great start by placing 10th in the 50 Free on Thursday and 14th in the 200 Back on Saturday. His best race was the 100 Free where he went head to head with National Record Holder Caleb Dressel. Ed performed really well to earn a 7th place finish.
Todd was able to come away with impressive time drops in his 200 IM and 100 Fly. His only finals experience was in the 100 Back, where he got a best time and a 19th place finish.
This was Kayla’s first ever National meet. She performed really well in the 100 and 200 Breast coming close to matching her best times. And she was able to drop 2 seconds in her 200 IM which put a smile on her face.
Kim Williams broke the club record in the 200 IM with a jaw dropping 1:58.80 to earn a 9th place finish. This time beat her old club record by nearly 2 seconds. Kim also was 10th in the 400 IM and 21st in the 100 Breast.
It was a great experience, and a chance to see a new part of the country. I am really happy for the swimmers with how well they performed and that they had a chance to show what BCST can do on a national scale.
