Great Meet for Age Group AZOT Swimmers at WAG

The age group Aquazot swimmers had a wonderful Winter Age Group Meet! Everyone in the Azot 3 swim group dropped time and gained some more SCSRT and Super JO times. Our 9-10 year olds finished the meet strong with a 2nd place finish in both boys (Horvath, Lee, Kubichek, Macy) and girls (Lin, Do, Yan, Phetbenjakul) 200 Medley Relay. The 11-12 Boys “A” relays left the meet undefeated in every relay including the 400 Free, 400 Medley, 200 Free and 200 Medley Relays.

The success with our 9-10s started with Atisha Phetbenjakul who won the 9-10 girls 50 yard freestyle with a time of 29.35 followed by Stephanie Lin with a top 8 place in the 50 free with a time of 30.63. Atisha also got 2nd in the 100 Free (1:03.40), 6th in the 100 breast (1:23.28), 7th in the 50 fly (33.25), and 3rd in the 200 IM (2:39.62). Stephanie got 3rd in the 50 breast (38.02) and 3rd in the 100 breast (1:22.55), 2nd in the 100 IM (1:13.52), and 5th in the 200 IM (2:41.58). Both girls were a part of the 3rd place 200 Free Relay that also included Nicole Faggela and Sophia Schreiber.

For the 9-10 Boys, Parker Macy had a wonderful meet adding more SCSRT times to his current 5. Parker got 3rd in the 100 back (1:10.46), 3rd in the 100 breast (1:19.51), 3rd in the 100 fly (1:10.17), 4th 100 IM (1:10.99), and won the 200 Free with a 2:09. 17. Timothy Lee got 7th in the 100 back (1:17.55), 8th in the 100 breast (1:25.30), 7th in the 100 IM (1:13.70), and 5th in the 200 free (2:19.68).

For the 11-12 girls, Leora Rose got 8th in the 50 back (31.51), Julia Hahn got 9th in the 50 breast (35.22), Chloe Lew got 8th in the 100 IM (1:08.22), and Marian Lu got 5th in the 50 fly (29.46). The girls got 6th in the 200 Free Relay, 4th in the 200 Medley Relay and 7th in the 400 Medley Relay.

The 11-12 boys had many top place finishers like Rithik Goel who won the 50 free (24.84) and the 100 fly (1:01.18), got 2nd in the 100 Free (54.64). Rithik also got 4th in the 200 Free (2:01.41), 2nd in the 50 fly (27.60),

Grant Sheen got 2nd in the 50 back (28.58), 3rd in the 100 back (1:03.44), 4th in the 50 fly (28.70), 8th in the 100 fly (1:05.21), and 7th in the 200 IM (2:18.58). Jason Schreiber got 3rd in the 50 back (29.39), 5th in the 100 back (1:04.08), 4th in the 50 breast (32.91), 3rd in the 100 breast (1:09.18), 3rd in the 100 IM (1:03.02), and 3rd in the 200 IM (2:16.03). Nathan Yang got 5th in the 50 back (30.12), 7th in the 100 back (1:05.34), 4th in the 100 IM (1:03.67), and 5th in the 200 IM (2:17.72). Zachary Lee, Ryan Kim, Daniel Chun and Shin Takahashi had personal bests in all their events as well.

AZOT wins Senior Winter Invite, 15-16 Boys Break National Record

 

On December 19 - 21, 43 AZOT swimmers attended the Winter Senior Invite in Monterey Park, California. It was a terrific meet for AZOT. The team accumulated 2285 points (women 831.5 points, men 1453.5 points) and won the meet by 1309.5 points.

 

In addition, Danny Tran, Tyler Lin, Justin Hanson, and Thomas Smith broke the 15-16 U.S. National Age Group 400 yard Medley Relay Record. Youngest AZOT swimmer: Eva Merrell, 13. Eva returned for finals three times (50 free - 4th, 100 back - 2nd, 100 fly - 3rd) and consolations two times (100 free - 9th, 200 back - 9th).

 

Number of female AZOT swimmers: 12

Top female AZOT point scorer: Daniela Georges with 115 individual points

Number of female AZOT first place finishes: 7 total (Georges - 500 Free, 200 back, 200 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM; Glavinovich - 100 back; and Kahn - 1000 free)

Number of female AZOT swimmers placing in the top 3 (individual events): 5 (Choi, Georges, Glavinovich, Kahn, and Merrell)

Number of first place relay finishes: 3

 

Number of male AZOT swimmers: 31

Top male AZOT point scorer: Corey Okubo with 97 individual points

Number of male AZOT first place finishes: 8 total (Karas - 100 free; Peterson - 500 free, 1650 free; Okubo - 100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM; and Tran - 100 back)

Number of male AZOT swimmers placing in the top 3 (individual events): 6 (Karas, Peterson, Okubo, Sa-Nguansap, Takahashi, and Tran)

Number of first place relay finishes: 4
