2014 Pacific Coast All-Star Team!

To kick start the New Year, Coach Jacqueline O’Hagan was on the Pacific Coast All-Star Team as the 11-12 Boys Coach. Accompanying her from Azot 3 was Jason Schreiber and 5 other Azot swimmers including Eva Merrell, Sydney Okubo, Kate Krolikowski, Sean Messer, and George Horvath. All were handpicked by different coaches to represent Southern California Swimming in Olympia, WA on January 4th and 5th. The different teams competing included Oregon, Pacific (Northern California), Pacific Northwest and Southern California Swimming. This trip allows the swimmers to gain experience in traveling with a team much like what will happen when the swimmers compete in college.

Some of the top swims included Syndey Okubo’s 200 IM with a 2:10.98 (5th) and 100 breast with a 1:10.63 (7th). Jason Schreiber got 10th in both his 100 breast (1:11.12) and 50 back (30.11). Kate Krolikowski placed 2nd in her best event the 200 Fly (2:08.20) and 7th the in 200 IM (2:12.99). Sean Messer got 4th in his 200 back (1:56.38) and in the 50 free (23.23) and got 5th in the 400 IM (4:18.85). Eva Merrell’s 100 fly placed first with a 55.64 as well as her 200 back 2:02.05 with a 2nd place finish, 200 fly 2:03.93 (1st), 100 back 57.26 (2nd ), 50 free 23.79 (1st). George Horvath’s 100 fly placed first with a 53.82 , 500 free 4:42.08 (3rd) and 200 fly 1:56.90 (3rd). In the end, Southern California Swimming won by 208 points defending their 4 year winning streak. Congrats to Coach Jacqueline and the Azot swimmers on their successful meet kicking off 2014!
