NVST Hosts Home Meet At Napa Valley College

The Napa Valley Swim Team hosted its annual February C/B/A+ swim meet, with over 400 swimmers attending. The meet was held Jan. 25-26 at the Vintage High School pool.

Representing NVST in their first swim meet were Jennifer Pederson, Lucas Padowan, Keaton Flynn, Connor Flynn, Sophia Farthing, Theo Llewelyn, David Migotto and Theo Skille. Over this two-day meet, the following swimmers achieved 100 percent best times: Kira Tavakoli (8-and-under division) and Sarah Reynolds (9-10 year-old division).

New Far Western Times were achieved by Gabe Wright (200 fly) and Iona Pascual (50 breast). New Junior Olympic Times were achieved by Emily Dusky (500 free) and Iona Pascual (200 back).

New “A” times were achieved by Kira Tavakoli (25 free), Alessandro Izzi (25 free and 50 free), Lucas Padowan (25 back), Ellie Montoro (50 free), Gabe Wright (50 back), Jack Montoro (100 breast and 400 IM), Sarah Reynolds (100 back), Will Flanders (200 breast) and Eric Tapia (200 free).

New “B” times were achieved by Rachel Galvin (100 fly), Erynn Robinson (50 free and 100 free), Grace O’Dwyer (100 free, 500 free, 50 back, 100 back, 100 IM, 200 IM), Jennifer Pederson (100 free), Clayton D’Angelo (100 free and 100 back) and Celine Parra (200 back).

In the boys 8-and-under division, Alessandro Izzi swam to a third-place finish in the 25-yard backstroke. Gianni Izzi finished first overall in the 25 freestyle. Also representing NVST in this division were Jack Larsen and Will Tokar.

In the girls 9-10 division, Rachel Galvin finished seventh overall in the 100 butterfly. Sarah Reynolds finished third overall in the 100 butterfly, fourth in the 50 backstroke, fifth in the 100 back, sixth in the 50 fly, and seventh in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Erynn Robinson achieved best times.

In the boys 9-10 division, Matthew Larsen swam to a first-place finish in the 100 breast, fifth in the 100 IM, sixth in the 100 free and eighth in the 50 back. Also representing NVST in this division were John McNamara and Michael Montoro.

In the girls 11-12 year-old division, Emily Dusky swam to first-place finishes in the 500 free, 100 breast and 400 IM, a second-place finish in the 200 breast, fifth-place finish in the 100 IM, sixth-place in the 50 and 100 free, and eighth in the 50 back. Yasmeen Jabarin achieved three best times, as did Jamie Jory. Grace King swam to two best times as did Ellie Montoro, who also finished seventh overall in the 100 butterfly and the 200 IM. Grace O’Dwyer achieved six best times, and competing in eight events was Isabel Parrado.

In the boys 11-12 year-old division, Shea Barrett achieved best times in the 200 free and 50 fly. Keoni Cisco achieved a best time and third-place finishes in the 100 back and 400 IM, and finished seventh in the 200 IM and eighth in the 50 back. Nicholas D’Angelo achieved best times in the 100 back (fifth place) and 100 fly (seventh place). Will Flanders achieved a best time in the 200 breast (third place). Michael Izzi achieved best times in the 50 breast, 200 free (seventh place) and 400 free, and he also finished second overall in the 500 free. Barrett McMichael achieved two best times and swam to a second-place finish in the 100 back, fourth in the 50 back and 100 fly, fifth in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 fly, and eighth in the 50 breast. Iona Pascual swam to first-place finishes n the 50 free, 50 back, 200 back, 50 breast, 100 breast, 100 IM and 400 IM. Eric Tapia finished fifth in the 100 fly, sixth in the 100 IM and 200 free, and seventh in the 50 fly. David Tokar achieved best times in the 200 IM and 100 breast. Gabe Wright swam to second-place finishes in the 100 fly and 200 fly, third place in the 200 free, fourth in the 50 fly, fifth in the 100 IM, sixth in the 50 back, seventh in the 100 free and eighth in the 50 free.

In the girls 13-14 division, Natalie Larsen swam to a fifth-place finish in the 500 free and was eighth in the 100 free. Jennifer Pederson achieved two best times. Grace Remboldt competed in six events. Verenice Tapia swam to a fifth-place finish in the 100 fly, sixth place in the 200 IM and seventh in the 500 free. Kelsea Wright finished first in the 100 fly and 400 IM, second in the 100 back and 200 back, third in the 200 free and 200 IM, fourth in the 100 fly and fifth in the 100 free. Annika Jean Erickson finished first in the 500 free.

In the boys 13-14 year-old division, Nicholas Cisco achieved best times in the 500 free (fifth place) and the 400 IM. Clayton D’Angelo achieved four best times and finished third in the 200 fly and seventh in the 500 free. Kevin Galvin achieved a best time in the 100 free. Kevin Galvin achieved a best time in the 100 free. Jack Montoro swam the 400 IM (second), 500 free (third), 100 fly (third), 200 IM (fifth), 100 back (sixth), 100 breast (seventh), 50 free (eighth), and 100 free (eighth). Cad Roberts competed in the 100 breast (second), 200 breast (third), 200 IM (fourth), 50 free (seventh), 100 back (seventh) and the 100 fly (seventh). Quinn McMichael swam the 100 free (third), 100 back (second), 200 back (second), 100 butterfly (first), 200 butterfly (first), 200 IM (second) and the 400 IM (first).

In the girls 15-16 year-old division, Gracie Murphy swam to a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Megan Minor swam to a second place finish in the 50 free and a third-place finish in the 200 back. Alyssa Lyndsey swam to a third-place finish in the 100 back. Kathleen Schafle finished second in the 200 free and third in the 500 free. Mia Facey finished first in the 50 free, 100 back, 200 back, 100 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM.

In the boys 15-16 year-old division, Louis Ayers swam the 50 free (second), 200 backstroke (first) and 200 IM. Bradley John Erickson finished first in the 50 free, 200 free, 500 free, 100 back, 200 butterfly, 200 IM and 400 IM.

In the girls 17-18 year-old division, Rachel Jory swam the 50 free (third), 100 free (third), 100 back (third), and 200 back (second). Haley Murphy swam to first-place finishes in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 500 free and had second-place finishes in the 100 back and 200 breast. Alex Swanson swam to first-place finishes in the 100 back, 200 back, 100 butterfly, 200 IM and a second-place finish in the 50 free.

In the boys 17-18 year-old division, David Wiley swam to first-place finishes in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back. Cody Dusky swam the 50 free (third), 200 free (third) 100 back (second) and 200 back (first).

The Napa Valley Swim Team is a year-round team, open to all abilities and ages, competitive and non-competitive.
