The Napa Valley Swim Team recently had eight of its 10-and-under swimmers qualify for and compete in Pacific Swimming’s 10U Championship Swim Meet. Over 600 swimmers, under the age of 10 years old, from teams throughout Pacific Swimming, competed at this meet, which was held in Monterey April 26.
Seven-year-old Alessandro Izzi finished second overall in the 25-yard and 50 backstroke and fourth overall in the 50 breaststroke. Gianni Izzi finished second overall in the 25 butterfly, fourth overall in the 50 freestyle, and fifth overall in the 100 freestyle. Jack Larsen achieved 100 percent best times, which included a sixth-place finish in the 50 freestyle. Lucas Padowan achieved 100 percent best times.
Eight-year-old Kira Tavakoli achieved 100 percent best times, as did Will Tokar, 8.
In the boys 8-and-under 100 medley relay, Larsen, Tokar and the Izzi brothers swam to a fourth-place finish.
Sara Reynolds, 9, achieved two best times.
Matthew Larsen, 9, swam to a second-place finish in the 50 breaststroke and a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
The Napa Valley Swim Team is a year-round team offering competitive swimming with professional coaching and instruction for all ages and abilities. In addition, NVST offers a non-competitive training program, summer swim classes and pre-competitive swimming instruction.
