Swim BC AAA SC Championships - Head Coach report

Swim BC AAA Short Course Championships Jan. 31-Feb. 3, 2014 – Head Coach report – hosted by PCPSA in Victoria, BC

Friday: all swimmers did best times in longer events. They all swam 30 seconds faster. Great swim 1500 free for Matthew Blakesley and beat over 1 min his best time.

Sat finals:

Rennes Lindsay 200fly and 200 IM

Cassis Lindsay 100back

All other swimmers with good best times in heats

Sun finals:

Rennes Lindsay 400 IM 1st place

Cassis Lindsay 100 free (where with little mistake we lost her chance for medal, but we both had a good lesson and moved on with focus for next race)  and 200 back

Very good 400 IM race for Hannah Kingscote. She is still learning and has plenty of room for improvement. Also Thomas Bakica improved a lot on his 400 IM.

Aidan Harvey was very pleased with his performance. He listened and did everything what he was asked for and got very skillfull 100 free race.

Monday:

It began with 50 free. Hannah, Aidan and Cassis all did best times showing their skills we have been working on since September.

Thomas Bakica swam 200 breast counting and being aware of his strokes numbers as he was asked for, which gave him best time.

Hannah had an amazing 100 Fly bringing her legs into the game on last 25m and making few seconds improvement.

Finals:

Rennes silver 200 free improving her time from the heats and with much braver race strategy.

Cassis had a day of forth on our fourth day. She was even faster in the final on her 50 free and her 200 free race could not be done any better in the evening. She finished her meet with a big smile and well deserved happiness, qualifying for National age group championships for the summer.

4 day meet was full of lessons, some mistakes which I hope will motivate my swimmers to think and work harder on the details.
