I AM HAPPY TO INTRODUCE AND WELCOME COACH LUIS GONZALEZ (GOLD GROUP COACH).
Coach Luis C. Gonzalez
Alias “Coach Luis”
My love for swimming began as a young boy, when I was involved in competitive swimming in my native town of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Most recently, I have focused more on teaching and passing along my skills and passion for the water to others. For the past fourteen years, I have been coaching, teaching, and motivating young athletes, children, and adults in various aquatic activities. My swimmers have ranged from ages "Tiny-Tot" to elderly. My past coaching experience includes the Killeen Barracudas Boys and Girls Club, Fort Hood Dolphins, and Fort Leavenworth Lancers swim teams. I have also trained adult swimmers in skills ranging from overcoming their fear of water to master swimming. In addition, for the past 16 years of my military service, I have also helped many soldiers to stay fit through the wonderful sport of swimming.
I enjoy staying up to date with the latest swimming techniques and training strategies. Even though I pride myself on teaching stroke techniques, my coaching priority is helping children become mature and self-reliant individuals. I believe that both the mental and physical skills children learn in the pool can continue to help them throughout their lives. I possess a thorough knowledge of swimming fundamentals, an eye for talent, a genuine care for athletes, and a strong ability to communicate and motivate.
I am a proud graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with two Bachelor degrees, one in Architectural and the other in Construction Engineering. I also have a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
I am a USA Swimming certified coach with a Level 2 certification from The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA).
I am married to Milena Gonzalez and have two children, Alondra (15) and Alexandra (7).\
