Team Communication – Buenaventura Swim Club

March 27, 2015

Ventura County Championship.  Congratulations to all of our swimmers who represented their high school (as well as their club team) with respect, pride, and of course fast swimming yesterday at the Ventura County Championship Meet.  Although it was a high school swim meet, we cheer for our own and they did a wonderful job.  The high school season is at about the mid-point and most are at or near life time best times.  We continue to improve and grow in the sport and I can’t help but think about the daily challenges and lessons that shape, mold, and produce our amazing athletes.  Stay tuned, I will send a separate email to detail all of our success.

Swim A Thon Fundraiser.  The Swim A Thon 2015 is winding down.  Please consider helping us move closer to our goal.  These funds will primarily be used to complete installation of our long-awaited office/storage unit, but also to maintain quality programming at reasonable rates.  We are asking for help from our adult masters, members who have not yet participated, or anybody who is able to assist.   The office/storage unit will allow our team to operate in a more professional manner, and will assist with communication as well as provide a centralized place to call home and show off our team spirit.  Thank you for your consideration.

Touch the Wall Documentary.  Please mark your calendar, the Touch the Wall Documentary has been scheduled for Saturday, April 18th at 12:00pm at Century 10 – Downtown Ventura.  Touch the Wall is a documentary about Olympic Swimmers Missy Franklin and Kara Lynn Joyce.  Kara will actually be co-administering a clinic for our team later in May.  Any time a swimmer can watch a movie about swimming on the big screen, it is a big deal.  We will send more details later, but you can reserve your ticket now.  Visit the event page at https://www.tugg.com/events/14825, which has gone live as of TODAY!  From there, you can buy a ticket, watch the trailer, and see how many tickets have been sold.  We need to sell at least 93 in order to secure the movie.  The cost per ticket is $13.  I just bought mine!

Buena Long Course Opener.  Our next swim meet will be our first long course meters meet of the year.  The kids haven’t had a long course meet in a long time and they will enjoy seeing big drops in their times.  The sign up is up and running on our website, please sign up early.  Also, if you had signed up previously, please go back to visit your entry to be sure you are still signed up.  There have been a lot of errors with the electronic files lately and some swimmer entries were deleted in error.  High School swimmers do not need to attend this swim meet, it is optional.  Speak with me if you have questions.

Have a great week!
