Our First Win!

Swimmers & Families,

Coach Holly:  Well – what a fine meet that was!  Perfect weather and great swims.  That was our first swim meet in a 25 meter pool (MHS is 25 yards) so the times may have seemed slower, but they weren’t.  It is always fun for a coach to see swimmers take what they have learned in practice and do it in a meet for the first time with success.  I was particularly pleased to see:  Swimmers trying backstroke turns and flip turns for the first time;  8-Unders trying breaststroke for the first time;  9-12s trying butterfly for the first time.  I’m very proud of those willing to take a risk and try something new.  GOOD WORK!!  Also, in case you missed it, WE WON!   It was a squeaker – we won by only three points.  The fact that those points were made in the relays only underscores how important the relays are for our team.  Again, I’m proud of those who were willing to do a relay even though it was new to them.  It won the meet for us. Congratulations, Barracudas!

Coach Robby:  Another fantastic meet!  I saw a lot of what we worked on in practice being performed in the meet.  Everyone has been working hard this season and it really shows.  Looking forward to the upcoming week!  Great job!

Coach Raegan:  Great job to everyone!  This was another fantastic meet!  I’m so proud of everyone and all of the improvements that were made.  I can’t wait to see how everyone does in the meets to come.  Fantastic job again!!

Coach Kam:  I was so excited to see more swimmers swimming more events this week.  Everyone always had a great attitude and showed great sportsmanship.  Amazing job everyone!  I can’t wait for the last dual meet!

Coach Emma:  Good job everyone!  This was a great meet.  I was so happy with everyone’s improvement in times and in technique.  I’m excited to see everyone improve in the last dual meet!  Good luck to everyone!

This week we added five new All-Star swimmers, bringing our total to 21 qualifiers.  New All-Star Qualifiers at this meet were:

This week’s Swimmers of the Week were Hugh Winchester-Dodman, Kayla Hodor, Lizzie Brown and Everett Brown.  Congratulations swimmers!

We have only two more weeks of swimming for those not swimming in All-Stars.  This week in practice we will begin sharpening up our racing skills for the upcoming meets.   Our meet this week is in Brunswick, and since it’s a four-lane pool, you may only choose to swim three individual events.

Our team spirit event this week is ateam movie ($1) on Wednesday morning at 10am.  You will receive an email with the details.  Friends and family are welcome to tag along!  For parents, you should all have received an invitation to a parent get-together on Saturday night after the meet.  It will be a fun time to socialize with other Barracuda parents.  Hope you can make it!

Go Barracudas!
