Weekly News (Sept 14th - 20th)

Hello Panthers,

What an amazing experience Friday’s Kick off Gala was! I can honestly say that I have not been part of many swimming team events with that much excitement and team camaraderie. This is all because of the people involved. Thanks again to all the volunteers and board members that worked together to pull that off. Thanks also to the families for participating in the event itself. It was just a great way to start the season. Now let’s keep that rolling and make the rest of the year just as much of a success.

After this week we will have finished Phase 1 of our training cycle. For those of you new to the team, we swim in 5-6 week cycles called phases (1-6). Each week gets progressively harder and then we cut back on the workload and rest for a week. We are now at our first rest week and it happens to be a long weekend, perfect for resting at the beach!

Important Notes:

ISB Activity Free Weekend (September18-20)

This week is a shortened week with students off both September 17th and 18th. September 18-20 is ISB’s activity free weekend and because of this there will be no practices on these days. But Thursday September 17th we will have our practices in the morning.

10 and under practice from 9:00am to 10:00

11 and over practice from 10:00am to 11:30

Peace Celebration:

Next Monday September 21st is International Peace Day; ISB is celebrating this day in many ways. This includes the schools first ever all school assembly. In honor of this day, our swim team will be supporting the cause by having each group swim 2,100 meters that day. Each squad will complete this in their own way, depending upon ability. High School will do 2,100 meters of fly for example.

Our annual fundraiser is coming up at the end of October (29th). This year we would ask that we have as close to 100% attendance as possible. We will have great eats, good music, and big prizes for most money raised and most laps swam. All swimmers will have to raise money and have a copy of their pledge sheet handed in before the start of the swim or they cannot participate. The swim is secondary; the fundraising is main focus of this day.

We are trying to raise funds to help get swim programs started in local schools that have pools but no equipment.

This week I will email out pledge sheets and important information so that we can get on the fundraising as soon as possible.

Patana Tiger Prawns Meet: For 8 and under swimmers only (September 26th) LAST DAY FOR REGISTRATION TODAY!

We are currently taking 45 swimmers to this meet. That is double what we traveled with last year…This is amazing!

I would highly suggest ALL of our 8 and under swimmers attend this meet. This is a fun “learning” meet for our Junior Panthers.
