Highlights of the ONDA meet

Hi Age Group swimmers and families!

We had a VERY successful first meet of the fall season.

8 & unders. In the 8 & under age group, we had a brave young man by the name of Lars Lund who beasted his very first club meet! Lars got new “B” times in his 25 free, 50 free, 50 fly. Simon Li made an appearance by giving our record board a serious run for its money! He may be doing some major damage to the EBAT records this fall.

9-10. Samantha Li had an amazing 200 free dropping almost 8 seconds and achieving a new “AA” time. Daphne Theodore got best times in 4 of the 7 events that she swam and did the 200 free and 200 IM for the very first time! Makenna Monteiro, Colin Sutedja, Sean Cooney, and Jennifer Mi got new best times in every single one of their races. Great job you guys!

11-12. Wesley Chen finally decided to join us for a meet and did a fantastic job with his 50 free with a new “B” time. Serena Brodsgaard and Grant Panus had a fantastic first meet as brand new Bat Rays as we are excited to have them as a part of the EBAT family!  Isabella Sui dropped 10 seconds in her 200 breast and achieved a “B” time for the 13-14 age group as a 12 year old! Great job Isabella. Caden Liang and Joey Molettieri are starting to become swim meet veterans as their experience and leadership are starting to rub off on their teammates. They both had great and exciting races and both achieved new “BB” times. Keep up the good work boys! Olivia Warren had breakout swims this weekend achieving a personal best in her 50 free, 50 fly, 100 IM, and 200 IM.

Race of the Meet. Caden and Joey had the race of the meet in the 11-12 100 freestyle. The boys got 1st and 2nd in their heat destroying the other swimmers by at least half a body length. These boys continue to push one another to get stronger and faster and it is exciting to witness!

Swimmer of the Meet. Daphne Theodore had an exceptional meet and stood out as a role model swimmer over the weekend. Daphne had an enthusiastic and positive attitude throughout the whole meet. She swam one of the most events out of all her teammates, swimming 7 events in two days. Daphne took direction very well and asked questions when she was confused or unsure about her race. She also achieved 4 new personal best times and 6 new “B” and “BB” times! I’m very excited to see her race at the next meet.

Next Meet. Our next meet is on Oct. 31/Nov. 1 at Orinda Aquatics in Moraga. I encourage ALL Age Group 1 and 2 swimmers to participate in this fun meet and to register soon! It is currently open but will fill up quickly. I encourage swimmers to sign up for at least 3 events per day and should be swimming ALL strokes and IM’s. If parents have any questions about what, when, or how to sign up for these meets, our coaches and returning parents are happy to answer.

Stay awesome and see you studs on deck!
