October 25, 2015
This past weekend (October 23-25 2015) CAST went to Mater Dei High School for an A/B Meet. Getting things going on Friday night Lael, Natalia, and Maddie tackled the 1000. Lael was a deck entry and had a great race, only a few seconds from her PB making for a nice start to this season. Maddie also had a strong showing and a 6 second time drop.
On Saturday, inspired by the Santa Ana winds, things got hot in the pool. William had a sizzling 200 breast and time drop. Maddie was on fire with excellent races in the 200 free and 100 back. Natalie D and Kekoa continued to build on their training showing good form and promise for the future. Liana had a really nice 200-breast race complete with excellent splitting and a drop from her time in the same event only a few weeks ago. Lael swam back-to-back 200s: free then fly again hitting times consistent with recent PB.
Sunday the meet closed out with Natalie dropping time in the dreaded 100 fly and Maddie showing growth in the 200 back, dropping 6 seconds. Lael had two nice races in the 100 fly and the 100 breast. Isaac broke a minute in his 100 fly going 59.99 and continued the trend dropping in his 100 breast and 200 IM as well. Finally, William got it done with a strong 100 breast, dropping time and hitting his KP cut.
This was a quick meet and the events moved along very fast. I was pleased with the swims and the evolution of performance. I appreciate that the swimmers cheered for one another and communicated well with me. Thank you. Something to work on for the next meet: TEAM SHIRTS. Until then – nice job. Give yourself a pat on the back and let’s get ready for the next opportunity.
