Survey on Prevalence of Shoulder Pain and Disability. The deadline to turn in a survey has been extended because the overseeing doctor said we do not have enough of a representative sample from our team. The new deadline is this Wednesday at practice, by 4:00pm. If you are between the ages of 9-17, we could really use your help. If you still need a copy of a survey, please ask your coach to give you one as we now have extras. The survey takes less than 5 minutes! Thanks for your helpJ
No Practice on Thanksgiving Thursday. Per our usual schedule, we will take off Thursday so that everybody can take time with their families. Also, as many veteran families know, the Ventura Aquatic Center shuts down for two weeks for annual maintenance during the Winter Break. We are still in the application process for reserving pool space at the local high schools during this closure. It is our intent to limit the interruption of our programming during the holidays, for masters, for age group swimmers, and even for our returning college swimmers. Once we are notified of our acceptance or rejection, we will pass the word along.
Swimmer in the Spotlight. Did you know that we select a bi-monthly “Swimmer in the Spotlight?” We do so for each training group and this month, we even added a masters section. Our goal is to recognize a swimmer who stands out from his/her peers by one of various mechanisms. Perhaps they bring perfect attendance, coupled with the best attitude, or maybe they simply work harder and smarter than anyone else, or as it may be, they charm their coach the best! Regardless of how, their coach thinks highly enough of them to recognize them by posting their picture and submitting a brief write up about them. Check out our home page and click on the box that says “Swimmers in the Spotlight” to read about our latest spotlight recipients. If you are short on time, then here is the short list: Congratulations to Larry Raffaeli (Masters Group), Tea Laughlin (Senior Group), Brandon Santos (Gold Group), Luigi Travi (Silver Group), Alex Garcia (Bronze A Group), Henna Tachet (Bronze B Group), and Analina Chaffin (Pre-Competitive Group).
Swim Meet Entry Deadlines. The deadline for entering the Club Champs and the Conejo Simi Holiday Meet are tonight at midnight! The deadline for entering Junior Olympics is one week later. High school swimmers attending Club Champs, remember to be sure you are entered with your best times, including times during your high school season. Also, don’t forget that you are allowed bonus events, provided you have the bonus time standard for that event. Everybody should be attending one of these meets, unless they are attending Junior Olympics the following weekend. Please see your primary coach with questions.
Have a great week!
