Weekly News (Dec 14th to 18th)

Hello Panthers,

Last week of training before the winter break starts at the end of this week. As Friday is a half-day of school, there are no ASA’s which makes Thursday our last team practice of 2015.

I would just like to say thank you to all team members and their families for a job well done so far this year. Your coaches could not be more proud of the effort put into you training and we are excited to see what the second half of the season brings. We have big meets like Splash, BISAC and IASAS that I am sure we will make all of ISB proud. We will also be travlling to ISM in Manila for our Spring travel meet. The hotel is a short walk from the school, making this meet a logistical treat, so swimmers if you are asking Santa for special treat...this could be it!

Enjoy your winter break and see you back all rested and ready to collect a mountain of PB swims in 2016!

Important Notes:

2016 brings us a new squad and new options for swimmers: ISB Panther Jr. Swim Cubs (age 5-8), a non-competitive option for Panther Swim Team Swimmers (all ages) and MS/HS travel options without parent supervision (Coaches will take on this responsibility):

ISB currently has the swimming options of the Panther Swim Team and American Red Cross Learn to Swim. It is my opinion that this leaves us with a few gaps to fill. So starting next semester, those ISB students who do not quite meet our qualifying times, or our age limit, will have the option of joining the Jr. Panther Cubs. This squad will train at the 25 m pool at the same time as our 10 and under squads and will be coached by Coach Gibby, who is currently an ISB Aquatics Assistant. For those interested, sign up at this link

Also, Panther Swim Team Swimmers will have the option at registration time to not compete in our Mandatory Swim Meets (Swimfest and Splash). This takes the pressure of those swimmers who feel they are not quite ready to compete or have no interest in doing so. Training for these swimmers will remain the same.

Lastly, with the hopes of increasing the size of our travel teams in the future we are offering the option of having Grade 8 and older swimmers traveling without their parents to swim meets (ISM will be the first meet). We will take an extra coach as needed and supervise the trip for them.

Winter Break Training Sign Up:

Winter break sign up will close on Thursday, so if you have not signed up yet do so before then.

All practices will take place at 8:00am. 10 and under will be one hour and 11 and over will be 1.5 hours.

Semester 2 Registration Opens January 11th

If you swam for Semester 1 you only need to register online, there is no tryout process. Everyone keeps swimming with their current squads unless you are aging up to a new squad.

Thought for the 2016 ISB Panther Swim Team:

"There are very, very few things you do in life that if you put less time into it, you are going to be as successful at.  And you start to think about it.  It deals with relationships.  It deals with your work.  It deals with your hobbies.  If you put in less time, your chances of being as good at it are diminished.  So, you want to learn the skill, and you want to work at the skill, and you put more time in."

Meets to declare commitment (Decline if you are not going):

***ANS Titans Sprint Challenge Feb 13th 14&under***

*** Martin’s Cup (Thai National Qualifying Meet) Feb 20-22***
