Weekly News (Jan 11-17th)

Happy New Year Panthers,

I am sure hope that everyone has had a great break and is rest and ready to get back to school and in the pool.  Please remember that registration opens today and it makes our life much easier if we sign up early and not wait until the last days.

We have a very busy first couple weeks coming up. Today we start our tryouts for new swimmers (swimmers on the team already do NOT tryout). This will continue on through Thursday. We also have tryouts for our Jr. Panther swim squad this Wed/Thurs.

Next week we will see how the break has effected us, we will have an all ages/all squad Panther Palooza swim meet on Wednesday right after school. Please sign up on the website if you haven’t already.

Important Notes:

Tragic Accident within the Bangkok Swimming Community: Damon Nemish owner of Let’s Asia Swimming:

Damon was biking just after the school break had started and was in a very serious accident, which has left him paralyzed from the chest down (temporarily is our hope). We are currently brainstorming ways in which we can help the Nemish family financially to deal with the huge costs associated with an accident of this nature.

Semester 2 Registration Opens Today

If you swam for Semester 1 you only need to register online, there is no tryout process. Everyone keeps swimming with their current squads unless you are aging up to a new squad.

REMINDER: 2016 brings us a new squad and new options for swimmers: ISB Panther Jr. Swim Cubs (age 5-8) and a non-competitive option for Panther Swim Team Swimmers (all ages):

ISB currently has the swimming options of the Panther Swim Team and American Red Cross Learn to Swim. It is my opinion that this leaves us with a few gaps to fill. So starting next semester, those ISB students who do not quite meet our qualifying times, or our age limit, will have the option of joining the Jr. Panther Cubs. This squad will train at the 25 m pool at the same time as our 10 and under squads and will be coached by Coach Gibby, who is currently an ISB Aquatics Assistant. For those interested, sign up at this link

Also, Panther Swim Team Swimmers will have the option at registration time to not compete in our Mandatory Swim Meets (Swimfest and Splash). This takes the pressure of those swimmers who feel they are not quite ready to compete or have no interest in doing so. Training for these swimmers will remain the same.

Meets to declare commitment (Decline if you are not going):
