Houston Marathon

This year COOGS will be out supporting the Houston Marathon on Sunday 17th January and we need as many volunteers as we can get. We have been given a location on Westpark bridge, on Westpark between Weslayan and Newcastle. Volunteers need to be there before 6:45am when the roads will be closed for the race. They will open up again as the last runner passes that point, around 11am. On Westpark, just inside 610, there's is a doggy park. That is the best, and free, place to park. It is then a short walk up to our spot.

This point is mile 12 on the marathon course and an important part of the race for those taking part so they will need lots of encouragement and cheering. There will be lots of COOGS masters swimmers and parents taking part in the race and I know they will love seeing their COOGS teammates as they battle this course.

We will be setting up a tent and have music playing but as we are not an official aid station we cannot hand water etc to the runners. All volunteers should be wearing COOG gear, if you need to purchase a t-shirt then please contact your coach asap, they are $15 each. Bring anything you have that will  make noise and be LOUD!!!! Swimmers are also encouraged to make banners and signs if they wish.
